Kasuri methi is used in various recipes for flavoring. It has a pungent aroma and strong flavor. Kauri methi is commonly used in a vegetable recipes. They are light green in color and are slightly bitter in taste. So, you are using Kasuri methi for the first time in a recipe, be sure not to overuse it. Using Kasuri methi more than required in the recipe can drop the taste of the dish.

Kasuri Methi Chicken Recipe
Ingredients To Marinate Chicken
- Chicken pieces- 500 g
- Cinnamon powder- 1/2 teaspoon
- Crushed green cardamom- 3 -4
- Crushed clove- 3
- Turmeric powder- 1/4 teaspoon
- Red chili powder– 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder- 1 teaspoon
- Ginger-garlic paste – 1 teaspoon
- Yogurt – half cup
Ingredients For A Chicken Recipe
- Oil – 3 tablespoons
- Butter- 2 tablespoons
- Kasuri methi- 1/4 cup
- Finely chopped onions – 3
- Green chilies- 3
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt as per your taste
- Chopped coriander leaves- 1/4 cup
- Cashew nuts- 8
While following this Kasuri methi chicken recipe, make sure that you don’t skip any steps or ingredients. Skipping one step or one ingredient mentioned in the recipe can hamper the taste of the Kasuri methi chicken dish.
The first step is to soak cashew nuts. Take a glass of water and add 8 pieces of cashew to it. Soak it for 20 to 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, you can start marinating chicken. In a colander, add 500 grams of chicken and rinse the chicken thoroughly. Then transfer the chicken to a big bowl. In a bowl of chicken, add 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder, one teaspoon coriander powder, three crushed cloves, four crushed cardamoms, two crushed cinnamons, one teaspoon ginger-garlic paste, 1/4 cup of yogurt, and salt as per your taste.
Mix all the spices to the chicken. Make sure that each piece of chicken is evenly coated with all the spices. You can use your hand to mix the spices with chicken pieces. Using your will help in coating chicken pieces with masala evenly. Let the chicken rest for 30 minutes.
If 20 minutes have passed, you can transfer the cashew nuts from the glass to the blender. You need cashew nut paste in the Kashuri methi chicken recipe, so you need to blend the cashew nuts to get a smooth paste. To blend cashew nuts, you need to add 6 to 7 tablespoons of water. Then, transfer the cashew nut paste to the small bowl you will need later in the recipe.
Now you have to prepare Kasuri methi for a curry. Bowl about a glass of water. Turn off the gas after the water is boiled. Then add few pinches of salt and 1/4 cup of Kasuri methi. Allow it to rest for 3 minutes, then strain out the water.
Heat a pan, then add three tablespoons of oil and two tablespoons of butter. Let it heat for a minute.
Add finely chopped onion, green chili, and salt. Cook until the onion turns golden brown. You may have to cook for 5 minutes on medium flame.
Then add ginger garlic paste. Stir and cook until the raw smell of ginger-garlic paste vanishes.
Add 1/4 tablespoons of turmeric powder and half tablespoon of red chili powder. Stir and cook for a minute.
Now you can add the marinated chicken. Mix all the masalas with the chicken. Cover the pan, then cook for about 20 minutes. Keep stirring in intervals.
Stick the fork to the chicken to check whether it is cooked now. If the chicken is cooked, add cashew nut paste and soaked Kasuri methi, and cream. Mix well with the chicken.
And one cup of water. Allow it to cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
Then add chopped coriander leaves. And turn off the stove.
