Veg a spring roll is a delicious crunchy snack. It’s crunchy from the outside and soft from the inside. It’s a delicious snack that is perfect for serving when guests show up. And if your guest list has kids, they are surely going to love it.
Veg spring roll has a thin wrapper made of flour which turns golden brown when deep-fried in the oil. The wrapper of the spring roll is so thin, that it can shatter when touched after frying.
Preparing a thin wrapper can be a difficult part of making a veg spring roll. However, it won’t be that difficult if you follow the steps mentioned below.
- French beans
- Corn strach
- Spring onion
- Black pepper powder
- Soy sauce
After you are ready with all the ingredients, get to make a veg spring roll. Firstly we’ll prepare stuffing for the spring roll then we’ll prepare the wrapper.
Firstly, you need to bowl the noodle. You can use noodles of your choice. You will need 1 package of noodles which is around 75 grams. Boil about one cup of water with one package of noodles for about 5 minutes on medium flame.
Once the noodle is properly cooked, strain the noodle, then transfer it to the bowl. Keep the noodle aside. You will need it in the following steps.
Now, it’s time to chop the vegetables. You will need a grater for carrot and cabbage. To make stuffing for spring roll, you need two and a half cups of grated cabbage and a half cup of grated carrot. Then slice the capsicum into thin strips. You can also chop French beans. Chop all the vegetables. You will need in the following step.
After you are done chopping, you can start making stuffing for the vegetables. For that, you need to heat the pan on a low-medium flame. After few seconds, add two tablespoons of oil into the pan.
Then add chopped spring onion. Fry the onions until they turn golden brown. Keep stirring while frying the onions.
After then, add all the chopped vegetables to the pan. Increase the flame to medium. Then stir and fry the vegetables for about 6 minutes. Keep stirring to avoid the vegetable from burning.
Now, you need to add half a teaspoon black pepper powder and one teaspoon finely chopped celery. Stir them to combine with vegetables. Cook for a minute.
Then add one tablespoon soy sauce. Stir everything well. Cook the vegetables for another minute.
Now add cooked noodles. Stir to combine the noodle with other vegetables. Then add salt as per your taste. Again stir well.
Switch off the flame and remove the pan from the stove.
After the stuffing is ready, you need to prepare a wrapper for the veg spring roll. For the dough, you will need flour, corn starch, and water. In a bowl add one cup of flour, three tablespoons of corn starch, and few pinches of salt.
Mix the ingredients well then add one cup of water. Whisk well until it gets smooth. You need to whisk until the batter gets lump-free. You can add water if required. Batter needs to be thin.
Now heat the nonstick pan in medium flame. When the pan is slightly hot, lift the pan then spread the batter on the pan using a spatula. Once the batter is evenly spread on the pan, put it over the flame.
Cook the wrapper until one side starts curling. Then flip the wrapper to cook the other side. When the wrapper is cooked evenly on both sides, remove it from the pan. If the wrapper is sticking on the pan, you can use oil before spreading the batter on the pan.
Allow the spring roll wrapper to cool. Meanwhile, you can make a sealing paste. Take a bowl, then add six tablespoons of flour and four tablespoons of water. Stir it to make a thick paste.
Now, you can make a spring roll. Take a wrapper, then add stuffing at the edge of the wrapper. Roll the wrapper in a cylinder shape. Seal the edge of the roll by using sealing paste.
To seal the roll, spread the paste on both sides of the wrapper. Bring one side to touch the roll. And do the same to the other side. Again spread the batter on both sides to seal the spring roll completely.
When all the spring rolls are wrapped completely, get ready to deep fry the spring roll. Take a Kadai and pour enough oil to deep fry. Heat the Kadai in high flame.
After the oil is heated, fry the spring roll. Depending upon the size of Kadai, you can fry 3 to 4 spring rolls at once. Fry them in medium flame.
After few minutes, flip the spring roll and fry another side. You need to fry them until they turn golden brown.
Remove them from the Kadai and transfer them to the kitchen paper to remove excess oil. Repeat the same process with the remaining raw spring roll.
Veg spring roll is ready to be served.
